Spring is approaching and Spellman will soon release their popular Mason jars full of fruit water, so it only seems fitting to give some dorm room crafty Mason jar ideas.

Memory Jar:

Anytime someone in your suite says something funny or memorable, write it down on a post it note, fold it, and put it into the jar.

By the end of the year your jar will be full of memories, some of which you may have forgotten. Right before school ends, get the room together with some snacks and open and read all the post it notes inside the Mason jar for a fun filled night before summer break.

Storage:

Use your jar to organize smaller things that may be cluttering your room. You can put it on your desk, and decorate the jar beforehand to match it to the color scheme of your room. These jars are also good for holding pens and pencils.

Holiday decorations:

Find festive trinkets or candies relevant to an upcoming holiday, and put them in the jar to remind yourself that it isn’t too far away. A good holiday for Mason jar decorations is Valentine’s Day, because it gives you can stock up on candies for the jar.

Home jar:

Being in school, and far from home, students tend to get homesick. A great Mason jar craft to heal the homesickness is a jar that will remind you of your hometown. On one of your journeys home or before you come to school, put some of your favorite things from where you live inside the jar as a reminder that home isn’t so far away.

For example, if you are from an area where you are surrounded by beaches and during the cold seasons here in New Rochelle, homesickness is at a high. Put some sand in it and some of your favorite seashells and decorate the outside in your favorite colors.

Glassware:

If you aren’t into crafting, but love Mason jars, there are still things you can do with them. You can decorate them or just keep them as a cool glass for your cupboard. Use it for spring treats, such as iced coffee, iced tea, or everyone’s favorite, lemonade!

By just thinking outside the box you can turn something as simple as a Mason jar into cute crafts for your dorm room. Don’t be afraid to be creative.
