If you’re having trouble grabbing a bite to eat during the day because your schedule won’t allow it, try creating a meal in a jar.

Mornings can be hectic, but your meal in a jar will be your savior. Take ten minutes out of your day and you will be set with a nutritious meal to satisfy your morning cravings.

One easy meal you can make for breakfast is a huevos rancheros. This recipe is fairly simple, and the less amount of time you put into it, the more time you can spend showing off this gourmet meal to your friends.

Huevos Rancheros:

3 Large eggs,

1 Cup of cheese of your preference

¼ Cup of bacon crumbles

1 Tablespoon of salsa

¼ Cup of vegetables (optional)

Steps:

1. Spray the inside of a large microwave-safe mason jar with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Stir eggs, cheese, bacon, and vegetables together.

3. Microwave the jar for one minute on high.

4. Take the jar out of the microwave and stir for thirty seconds or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

5. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and top with salsa.

Salads are not only nutritious but they are also fun and customizable. In the jar you can add any ingredient of your liking to create a perfect salad. Screw on the lid and when you are ready to eat, add your dressing and enjoy!

Salad:

½ Head of lettuce

1 Tomato

1 Stalk of celery

¼ Cup of croutons

½ Of an avocado

1 Cup of salad dressing

These are just the ingredients to start with, you can add in or take out any other vegetables of your choice.

Steps:

1. Chop the vegetables in small pieces.

2. Place small layers of each ingredient into the jar until you reach the top.

3. Add salad dressing at the top.

4. Close the jar and shake it.

If you feel like indulging after a long day, create a quick and easy chocolate cake in a cup for yourself. The cake is hot and ready within two minutes. This recipe calls for a few more ingredients than the previous meals, but they are all things you will be able to find in your kitchen, making the dessert an easy meal.

Chocolate cake:

¼ Cup of flour

5 Tablespoons of sugar

2 Tablespoons of cocoa powder

1 Egg

3 Tablespoons of milk

3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil

3 Tablespoons of vanilla extract

Steps:

1. Whisk together all of the ingredients in your mason jar until it becomes a smooth consistency.

2. Place in microwave for about two minutes; you want it to look light and fluffy.

3. Check on your meal, and if it doesn’t seem ready, you can microwave it for another two minutes.

These convenient substitutions for a sit-down meal can be customized for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made any way you would like them.
