Spring trends to try on

The lookbooks are out, and the sales are already beginning, so whether you’re a male or female, get ready to find out about the top trends for the upcoming season. Spring 2015 trends are set to combine both the new and the old.

Let’s start with trends that both women and men can tie into their wardrobe. The biggest shared trend this season is going to revolve around color. More specifically, navy blue, military green and an assorted range of pastels are most prominent.

Navy blue and green may seem surprising for spring, but they were just as popular as the bright colors during this year’s Spring 2015 New York Fashion Week. Pastels can be seen everywhere, from jackets, necklaces and down to shoes.

Another look coming into popularity is quite literally all white everything, consisting of outfits that are comprised of strictly white clothing.

It is mostly seen on women, but men are quickly hopping onto the bandwagon.

Along with these colors come a variety of textures – pony hair, velvet and leather.

Women may soon be saying goodbye to their beloved skin-tight denim. In contrast to skinny jeans, which have been an ongoing trend for a few years now, this spring the trend is overwhelmingly headed towards boyfriend-fit denim.

These jeans are loose-fitting, usually cuffed at the bottom and sometimes have a destroyed look to them. The perfect outfit add-on are minimalistic heels – a heel with little to no platform, usually one solid color and a simple strap.

One trend that will remain consistent into the spring are floral prints, which was showcased as “Garden Party” for New York Fashion Week. The only thing that’s changed about this look is that men can start buying looks with this print incorporated as well.

According to H&M’s YouTube channel, men’s spring and summer looks are, “blousons, bikers, parkas, western jackets and blazers alongside tech zip-ups, heat-sealed shirts and scrub sweatshirts for a modern day take on city dressing.”

Despite what spring entails, the menswear trends still call for layers and pieces that were used during the cold weather.

Layering jackets of all styles and flannel shirts is one of the biggest spring male trends we’re going to see. Even beanies are going to make their way into the warm weather.

Pastels will also play a large role in menswear, specifically on Bermuda shorts. One of the biggest trends thus far that will be utilized in casual settings are form-fitting suits as men are gravitating towards a more dapper, gentleman-like look.
