After several months of renovations, students now have a new place to go and chow down as the Iron Pizza Kitchen opened Feb. 17.

Though it is a little different than its predecessors, Canonne’s and Campus Wings, the building’s structure remains much the same.

Students can now order both wings and pizza, from the same place.

Additionally, desserts are served so students can now have a full course meal on the go, with a combination of drink, pizza and dessert.

Students have expressed mixed feelings about the new off-campus dining option.

“I do miss Campus Wings. I loved coming to Cannone’s at night and I’m a little upset that it is gone but I’m glad this place is open late so I can eat here,” sophomore Meghan Cramsie said.

“I think the pizza’s fresher and not as oily,” she said about The Iron Pizza Kitchen.

In addition to the improved food, the atmosphere has also been tweaked throughout the restaurant.

“It’s my first time here and I think it looks good and cleaner,” said junior Eve Indiviglio.

As a matter of fact, the whole inside was completely redone, with new countertops, tables and bathroom.

Since it’s new, The Iron Pizza Kitchen is currently recruiting Iona students to work there.

From what’s seen at the front counter, is a variety of pizzas as well as calzones and heroes students can order.

When asked how business was going, junior Mai-Lanni Bunkley, who was on her first day said “Business is going great. So far, I think, we’ve earned $500 just from Iona students.”

Despite some initial resistance to the new eatery, students are happy with the food.

“I’d definitely recommend it to others,”said Indiviglio.

“I’ve eaten here with my roommates a couple times and we like it,” said Cramsie.

It’s still early for the new restaurant, but it looks like it may become a new campus favorite, as it’s open late and is ideally located near the residence halls.

So next time you’re on North Avenue, go in and try a slice. It might just be worth your while.
