Fall 2015 fashion week favorites

New York Fashion Week has ended; Los Angeles and London Fashion Weeks have begun. Fashion has epitomized society and culture. Fashion Week around the world is always my favorite time of the year and it is always exciting to see what is next in fashion. It is interesting to see how the world takes fashion and revolutionizes what people wear. Past trends are reinvented and new trends emerge.

During New York Fashion Week many designers show that they are inspired by art and everywhere they go. The inspiration for Fall 2015 is a mix of 1920s embellishments from Marchesa to the 1970s fringe of Anna Sui.

One of my favorite collections from Anna Sui and her aesthetic is from the 1960s and 1970s. In this particular collection, there was more of a 1970s look and very bohemian inspired. For the past two seasons many of the trends were inspired by this decade.

The unique aspect from Sui’s collection is that she is not afraid of using various patterns and mixing-and-matching them. Also, since the collection is based for fall, the colors are more warm and bright earth tones.

Personally, I think Sui’s collection and the two decades have inspired my personal style because they have had a rich effect on society and the fashion world. Sui’s collection is free and bohemian. The evolution of the 1960s and 1970s allowed women to dress freely and gave designers a chance to experiment with color and print.

In most of the collections of Fall 2015, I have noticed that there are several types of shades of orange and some pastel shades as well. I adore the color orange. I was happy to see how the color is going back on the runways to show a little bit of boldness. Surprisingly, some people do not like the color orange, however, there is something about the color that exudes happiness and life.

Another collection that was my favorite was Michael Kors. Kors has a minimalistic aesthetic, and he is known for classic pieces. He made classic fur coats look exquisite, and I particularly adore this look on Kendall Jenner.

She wore a blue indigo fur coat with black stripes, and it was paired well with a same colored turtleneck sweater. I admire how the Kors House styled each piece and outfit in a minimalistic way to showcase the clothes from head to toe. This adds to the trend of fur coats on the runways, and I highly recommend trying this trend to add something regal to any outfit.

Kors’ collection reminds me of the 1940s in Great Britain. The Oxford shirts under the sweaters and the menswear vision translated into the womenswear too.

From this season of New York Fashion Week, I have learned that old meets new and fashion will always change. The latest trends this season are exciting, and I highly recommend trying some of them.
