Every year, Iona University hosts its “annual day of giving” called Gaels Giving Day.
On March 10 of this year, Iona University alumni, faculty, staff, students, friends, and parents all joined together to demonstrate a community spirit that the Iona Website refers to as “the Power of Iona.”
On Mar. 10th, 536 donors donated over $230,000 to the institution. This massive influx of donations builds to Iona University’s year to over $2,410,00,000. This campaign has been one of the highest amounts of donors, totaling $3,264 for two hundred and sixty-four donors.
According to the Iona University Website, Iona University President Seamus Carey, Ph.D., said that,
“Gaels Giving Day is a powerful reminder of what makes Iona so special. Our community believes deeply in the transformative power of education. The generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends helps ensure that more students have access to the opportunities that define the Iona experience.”
Gaels Giving Day’s goal was 500 donors, and it beat that goal.
According to the Iona University Website, Gary Grant, the Senior Vice President for Advancement and External Affairs, said that
“Gaels Giving Day demonstrates the collective strength of the Iona community. When hundreds of donors come together in a single day, their generosity creates meaningful momentum that supports scholarships, programs, and the overall student experience.”
The success of Gaels Giving Day is proof that many alumni, faculty, staff, students, friends, and parents are very eager to support Iona University’s growing development. However, the donation period is more than just one day. The Gaels Giving action continues until June 30th.
