Channel your past preteen and let out a girlish shriek Gaels, because Fall Out Boy is back. After a three-year hiatus, the pop punk band announced that they were officially reunited Monday, Feb. 4. Not only that, but they also revealed that they will be releasing a new album, “Save Rock and Roll,” available April 15 and 16.

On the Feb. 4, Fall Out Boy also released a new single, “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up).” Later the same day, the band played their first post-hiatus concert in their hometown of Chicago, featuring the new single and a set of fan favorites. According to Rolling Stone, Patrick Stump egged on the already ecstatic crowd saying, “I told you we were gonna come back! Why didn’t you believe me?”

MTV reports that the band is serious about their reunion and ready to embrace the future of their music. Lead singer Stump said, “We didn’t want to come back…and do our best 2003 impersonation. We wanted to do something that was us now. And if it weren’t right, we weren’t going to do it.”

Fall Out Boy’s website homepage displays a similar message. Under the heading “A Message from Pete, Patrick, Andy, and Joe” it reads, “This isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now.” It seems that the band is eager for a fresh start with some new music.

To the pleasure of fans, their single certainly has a familiar feel but with some new flare. The old Fall Out Boy (FOB) can definitely be heard in the song, but it also has a new rock vibe as well. The video released for “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)” reinforces the band’s press for a new FOB as it features hip hop artist 2 Chainz setting fire to their old albums and paraphernalia.

It’s surprising that the band was able to keep this reunion a secret for so long. Apparently, rumors had been circling about a reunion, but nothing was confirmed. Even Pete Wentz was shocked, telling MTV, “Nobody could figure out the whole thing. It blew my mind that we recorded an entire album in secret. There was a couple times there were paparazzi that got us outside and didn’t put two and two together.”

And with their single, and the music from their secretly recorded upcoming album, Fall Out Boy will be launching the Save Rock and Roll Tour. The tour starts in Milwaukee on May 14 and concludes in the on June 30 in Nashville. Unfortunately for any die hard fans at Iona, according to the website, the tour is already sold out in all cities except Freehold, New Jersey.

The Boys are even coming to NYC on May 29, but to get tickets one has to be willing to pay on StubHub or other individual ticket selling sites. Currently, prices for a ticket to the New York show range from $159 to $2,500.

From the looks of those prices, it will probably be best to listen to Fall Out Boy “Save Rock and Roll” from the comfort of your own bedrooms Gaels.
