Country songs that embody warm weather vibes

The Iona community experienced beautiful weather this past weekend. 70 degrees? Crazy. Every Gael took the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine, whether it was by sitting at a table outside the library, hanging out at an off-campus house or laying on the East Hill.

The sneak peek of good weather hinted at plenty of warm weather ahead—and the perfect music genre to accompany a beautiful day is country music.

Although country music can be enjoyed all year round, it is one hundred percent better played outside, at the beach, poolside or in the car with the top down!

Here are the best country songs to add to your playlists when you’re enjoying the beautiful weather with your Gael pals:

“It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” by Travis Tritt – This Travis Tritt jam is the definition of a feel-good song. Its message is to be appreciative of a perfect day. It’s the perfect song to start off your backyard party playlist.

“I’m Alright” by Jo Dee Messina – As broke college students with the ability to have a good time, all Iona students can relate to this jam. It’s a fun, classic country tune with a funny, fantastic bridge. The writing is sentimental and sharp.

“High Horse” by Kacey Musgraves – The perfect song for the pop lovers who need some familiar beats when listening to country for the first time. The song has a synth beat filled with swag, funk and some funny lyrics. It is one to dance too.

“Do I Make You Wanna” by Billy Currington – People who can listen to this song and not instantly feel good should win one million dollars. Its melody is infectious, and its lyrics are super sweet. It’s the perfect song to groove to with friends.

“Go Ahead and Break My Heart” by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani – The tune is fantastic and the real-life couple’s harmonies are awesome. Everyone can relate to the verses and the song is great for cruising along the highway.

“Tequila” by Dan + Shay – A much slower song than the others on the list. It is best used as a beautiful, background melody to accompany a nice, meaningful conversation among pals.

“Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Jake Owen – The perfect song to add to your playlist when hosting a party in your backyard this summer. The song about letting loose and having a good time is the best song to get your guests enjoying the party.

“Body Like a Back Road” by Sam Hunt – Country fans and casual listeners were all jamming to this song last summer and should continue to in 2018 because the song still bops! It is sexy and fun. Its classic country metaphors are given new life with a fun beat that is sure to have everyone shaking their hips.
