The Unrivaled league is a three-on-three women’s basketball league founded in 2023. Founded by Women’s National Basketball Association players Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart in 2023, the league was founded to allow WNBA players to still play in the United States of America and to bypass prioritization rules set by WNBA players that play overseas during the off-season.
The league played its first season in 2025, with six teams vying for the inaugural championship down in Florida. Rose Basketball Club, led by inaugural Most Valuable Player Chelsea Gray, who plays for the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA, and Defensive Player of the Year Angel Reese, who plays for the Chicago Sky, won the inaugural championship.
The 2026 season saw the league expand. The league added Hive Basketball Club and Breeze Basketball Club and played games all across the East Coast, compared to just Medley, Florida. The league played games in Philadelphia and Brooklyn, in addition to Miami.
The games in Philadelphia, those being the Rose vs the Lunar Owls and the Phantom vs the Breeze, saw almost 22,000 people attend them, which is a record attendance for a professional women’s basketball regular-season game.
As for the on-court action itself, the Phantom had the league’s best record at 11-3, with the Mist and the Laces finishing right behind them with a 10-4 record. For the new teams, the Breeze managed to make the playoffs with a 6-8 record, while the Hive finished last in the league with a 4-10 record.
For the players, Gray won her second Most Valuable Player award (and also won the one-on-one tournament mid-season) and Aaliyah Boston (Phantom, Indiana Fever) won her first Defensive Player of the Year award. Gray, Paige Bueckers (Breeze, Dallas Wings) and Kelsey Plums (Phantom, Los Angeles Sparks) were named to the All-Unrivaled First Team and Boston, Allisah Gray (Mist, Atlanta Dream) and Brittney Sykes (Laces, Seattle Storm) were named to the Second Team. Marina Mabrey (Lunar Owls, Connecticut Sun) led the league in points with 25.3 points per game, Aaliyah Edwards (Lunar Owls, Connecticut Sun) led the league in rebounds with 12.4 rebounds per game and Gray led the league in assists with a bit over six per game.
In the playoffs, both the teams that received byes, the Phantom and Mist, made it all the way to the finals. In the finals, the Mist beat the Phantom, 80-74, to become the second champions of Unrivaled. Stewart (Mist, New York Liberty) won Most Valuable Player of the finals, with 32 points giving her the award.
