Winter is a month filled with chilly days and while most don’t enjoy the days that they encounter during the winter months, there is a bright side to the chilly weather that I can’t help but love. Winter comes with activities that are only available when it’s freezing out and although the weather can be harsh, it allows for some enjoyable inside activities.
A common winter activity that is a favorite of mine is making hot chocolate with friends, family or a significant other and enjoying it while having a nice chat. I like to add a candy cane to the drink to stir it up for a nice peppermint twist on the traditional way to enjoy hot chocolate. Enjoying a warm beverage with those that you care for allows for a warm heart during the brutal cold of winter. Hot chocolate also pairs well with cookies and baking is another great indoor activity you can take part in, making both activities a fantastic way to pass the time while indoors. Listening to Christmas music is also another highlight of the winter season for me since it gets me excited for the holiday and makes me nostalgic of my childhood when I’d listen to Christmas music non-stop all winter long. My comfort Christmas movie and one that is incredibly underrated is the movie “Grandma Got Run Over by Reindeer,” which was on repeat for me throughout the winter and the catchy songs always roped me back in each year. This movie is a strong recommendation from me if you haven’t seen it yet.
Winter is great for inside activities due to the cold, but it’s worth bundling up and heading out for some fun outdoor activities, specifically when it’s snowing outside for some fun winter activities, like sledding, having snowball fights and building snowmen with friends and family. Partaking in activities like this with family makes the time much more fun and memorable. Ice skating is another fun activity to do with friends and family. Although ice skating is a difficult activity, it’s fun to mess up and try doing it with friends.
Driving around and seeing houses decked out with holiday decorations is always fun to see during the winter nights and allows for a free light show with those you care about.
The winter months are a perfect opportunity to spend time with loved ones and enjoy limited time of the year events and have a grand time as the days pass. Ensure time is made to take a step back and have fun during the winter because it only comes around once a year and is a nice distraction from the stresses of school.
