Iona basketball fifth-year guard Tyson Jolly was named the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference on Feb. 28.

Jolly averaged 16 points and four assists over the two-game span which covered wins against Canisius and Rider. He got a majority of those points from deep, going 4-9 against the Griffs and 3-5 against the Broncs.

The 6’4 guard from Oklahoma City has been one of the most reliable scoring options for the Gaels this season. He’s averaged nearly 15 points per game this season as the leading scorer for the Gaels. This season marks the highest point output of Jolly’s career.

Jolly has scored over 16 or more points in 16 games for the Gaels this season, a testament to the guard’s reliability as a scorer this year.

The 2021-22 season was the first for Jolly in Maroon and Gold after transferring from Southern Methodist University.

Jolly’s highlight performance of the season came under the bright lights of the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. He put in his second 21-point performance of the season, while pulling down seven boards to compliment the scoring output.

The guard is ending his collegiate career on a high note with the Gaels and head coach Rick Pitino. After only playing in eight games last season, Jolly has become a centerpiece of the Gaels’ offensive attack.

Jolly will look to carry his recent hot streak over into the MAAC tournament and propel the Gaels to yet another conference championship.
