‘What would you do before you die?’

“Living life without regret, living life without the ‘What If.'” That is a statement made by Duncan Penn on Oct. 4th’s episode of the hit MTV show, “The Buried Life.” The show is in its second season and is a smash hit.

The show is centered around the question ‘What Do You Want To Do Before You Die?,’ and consists of four Canadian boys, Ben, Duncan, Jonnie, and Dave who travel across North America to complete their bucket list. Along with completing their own crazy tasks, they help other people they meet along the way complete their own life-long dreams.

The bucket list is made up of 100 tasks and the boys are trying to complete as many as they possibly can. Some of the tasks range from making a toast at a stranger’s wedding to playing basketball with President Obama.

Sometimes the “Buried” boys don’t complete the task but they just put it back on the list and attempt at it later. For example, in the first season, Ben wanted to ask out Megan Fox–the girl of his dreams, but he had no such luck. This season, it was Duncan’s turn and he successfully completed asking out his dream girl, Taylor Swift.

For each task they complete, the guys help a total stranger complete their own dream. In the past two seasons they’ve helped many people, whether it’s reuniting a man with his son who he hasn’t seen in 17 years or helping a young woman travel to see her mother’s gravesite for the first time.

“The Buried Life” premiered in January 2010 and has taken MTV and the people who watch it by storm. They took a risk with this show seeing as how it does not have the same reality TV format like shows such as “Jersey Shore” or “Teen Mom.”

Freshman Alana Keeley says the reason she likes the show is because “The show pushes the limits and lets you know that life is too short and that you should take risks.”

The show is very different from other things on television nowadays. Yes, it is a reality show but it takes the term ‘reality’ to a whole different level. It shows the internal struggles that people deal with in everyday life but at the same time sheds a new light on how to live life.

It has opened up so many people’s eyes as to what life is really about. It has taught the viewers that anything is possible if you try hard enough. You can’t give up on your dreams, no matter how big, because they are achievable.

We must always live our lives as if it was our last day and always live with our eyes wide open, never half closed.
