Jeff LeBlanc wows Iona crowd

Performing solo with his acoustic guitar and settling voice, Iona College hosted musician Jeff Leblanc in the LaPenta’s end zone for the third time. Although the audience turnout was moderate, Jeff captivated those in attendance with a soothing acoustic performance.  Opening for LeBlanc was one of Iona’s very own, senior Ryan Oldendorf, who entertained the incoming crowd with songs from the Avett Brothers and even some original songs.  To get in the swing of things, Jeff Leblanc started by singing some of his own cover songs. Themes varied from heartbreakers to love songs. In between sets, LeBlanc connected with the audience by telling anecdotes about his everyday life and experiences. His comedic personality captivated the audience and he succeeded in engaging them with song. He was very interactive and personable with the audience asking for any requests or favorite songs. Some of these songs included “Boston” by Augustana, Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I am” and “Broken” by Lifehouse.  Finishing up with songs from the David Archuleta winter tour, the very talented Jeff Leblanc admitted to working with well-known artists such as the Goo Goo Dolls and Ingrid Michaelson. His comfort on stage was apparent throughout his performance as he told jokes about himself and the unpredictable life as a musician. He explained his humble beginnings, how music was once a hobby and now his career. Artists such as John Mayer and Howie Day inspire LeBlanc’s songwriting.  Selling around 5,000 copies of his CD and falling at number 160 on top charts around the country, Leblanc is on his way to the top. His talent and solo performances make for one believable success story.
