Beyonce’s performance a show-stopper

The Baltimore Ravens may have won the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, but it was Beyoncé who stole the show with her performance at halftime. The much anticipated performance did not disappoint as she sang, danced and delivered a classic Beyoncé show.

As spectators ran up to the stage screaming and going wild in anticipation, Beyoncé made her entrance to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, strutting out on stage in a leather corset, starting the show singing “Love on Top” with fireworks shooting out of the stage.

The pumped-up star quickly changed her tune and went into “Crazy in Love.” While dancing and flipping her long, curly hair fiercely, Beyoncé had audience’s both at the show and watching at home hooked and entertained.

She was just finishing up singing “Baby Boy” when one of the most exciting parts of the show occurred. Coming as a huge surprise to millions, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams appeared on stage next to Beyoncé. It was a Destiny’s Child reunion.

The trio sang their old song “Independent Woman,” which most certainly brought joy to any ‘90s kid. But that was not where the reunion ended. The group turned contemporary when they sang and danced to Beyoncé’s, “Single Ladies.” The dancing of the group was phenomenal. The energy and raw talent kept viewers from thinking about the game.

However, with this great surprise came great disappointment. There seemed to be some acoustic problems and viewers complained that they could not hear Rowland’s and Williams’s voices when they joined the show.

Despite these technical difficulties, Beyoncé finished the night with her song “Halo” and thanked audiences everywhere. It was a successful night for the singer.

There was much pressure riding on Beyoncé’s performance after the lip syncing controversy at President Obama’s inauguration. After lip syncing the national anthem at the inauguration, many believed that she would follow this trend at the Super Bowl. Beyoncé promised that she would be singing live and stayed true to that promise. There is no doubt that the star’s voice was live at the half time show, proving skeptics that she has the talent she is acclaimed for.

She made the show her own. Her presence and delivery dominated the stage. Everything from her choreography, to her voice to her flaming guitar made the 47th Super Bowl all the more enjoyable. While Americans everywhere were eating pizza and wings, judging the commercials and getting anxious when the power went out at the Superdome, Beyoncé was still being talked about in homes, dorms and social media cites everywhere.
