Why are you my Clarity: Zedd wows Webster Hall

Frank Dizenzo Contributing Writer

Zedd came ready to play on both Feb. 28 and March 1 at Webster Hall, for all his fans. From 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the next morning, Zedd and his team of DJs entertained the crowds.

Opening up at Webster Hall were Alex English and rekLES, who are two DJs that call Webster Hall their home almost every weekend. Following in the line-up were Alex Metric and Tommy Sunshine, a member of a group called Horsepower, and RipTidE closed out the event after Zedd finished his set.

Zedd performed in the middle of the pack. The lights went out and the crowed was filled with both excitement and anxiety as they waited for Zedd to walk out onto the stage.

“All I saw was darkness and I knew he (Zedd) was coming out at any moment. It was insane and the suspense was killing me. All of a sudden there was a flash of lights and there he was standing above the crowd ready to go I was so pumped,” said sophomore Steve Correale.

Zedd opened up his set with one of his biggest hits called “Spectrum,” and the crowed went insane. There was no turning back. The party had started, and both Zedd and his crowed were ready to go.

Zedd pulled out his own production “Shave It,” Save the World Tonight” by Swedish House Mafia, “Destroy Them with Lasers” by Knife Party, a remix of “Mercy” by RL Grime and Salva and “The Harlem Shake” by Baauer. Last he played “Clarity,” one of his newest songs. When he dropped it in his set, the crowd went out of control.

“Once I heard the beat start to get mixed in and people started to yell and chant Clarity before it even came on I knew it was going to be insane. My blood started pumping and now I knew it was time to party,” said New Rochelle resident Eric Vasquez.

Sophomore Stephanie Bomba said, “I have never been to a rave before, and I really didn’t know what to expect, but when I got there I was amazed. It was so much fun, and Zedd played one of my favorite songs ‘Clarity’ so why wouldn’t I have a great time.”

Zedd played a great set and had the crowd going the entire night. Ending this set, Zedd played music from genres like trap, dubstep and house music. Zedd’s next spots on his tour will bring him to places like Brooklyn, Philadelphia and California where he will bring his own vibe of PLUR.
