New celebrities cast for ‘Dancing’

Patrick Lynch Staff Writer

The cast of the 17th season of “Dancing with the Stars” was announced on Sept. 4. Many people will be able to identify these celebrities, as they have appeared on major television broadcasts such as “Glee,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Saved by the Bell.”

From looking at the cast, some say that this season will be one of the most entertaining and exciting so far. If you look at past celebrities who appeared on the show you can tell they’ve had past dance experience, such as Sabrina Bryan from “The Cheetah Girls.” This season, however, contains many celebrities who have no such experience. This can only make the show more entertaining and fun to watch.

An obvious example of this inexperience in the upcoming season is Bill Nye the Science Guy, who is already a fan favorite. Many viewers will be struck with nostalgia as they watch Nye waltz his way through the show, thinking back to the good ol’ days when he taught us about sulfuric acid and hydrogen bonding.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi from the hit show “ Jersey Shore” can also be categorized with Bill Nye as being entertaining to watch. Other celebrities that were not expected to be cast on the show include Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes on the musical comedy “Glee” and Brant Daughtry, who played Noel Khan on ABC Family’s dramatic show “Pretty Little Liars.”

Also joining the cast includes Bill Engvall, a famous comedian who has appeared in many shows, including the animated series “Bounty Hunters.” Another addition that will surely be a hit with the ladies is Corbin Bleu, who played Chad in the three “High School Musical” movies.

Other celebrities dancing this year include Valerie Harper, Keyshawn Johnson, Christina Milan, Jake Osbourne, Leah Remini and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, who played Jessie in the ‘90s comedy “Saved by the Bell.”

For anyone who is a fan of these popular stars, whether they are contemporary or from your childhood, tune into “Dancing with the Stars” every Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC to watch them dance.
