Winter has arrived. The leaves have fallen, the air has a permanent chill, finals are too close for comfort and wardrobes are at their peak.

Winter fashion is favored by most because of its neutral accessories, tall leather boots, cozy beanies and chic jackets. Naturally, these trends can be seen all over campus. College girls have a knack for taking trends and putting their own twist on them.

One of these girls is junior Alexa Arpaia. Styled in a grey sweater with a neon pink puffer vest tied together with a pair of skinny jeans and riding boots, Arpaia shares with the Ionian her favorite cold weather style.

IONIAN: Describe your style.

ARPAIA: I would say my style leans towards preppy, but is not fully a traditional prep look. I like to incorporate pieces from different styles.

I: How do you accomplish your casual but chic look?

A: I try to keep my style casual by not over dressing too much. I use a lot of basic pieces and add one item to make it pop, like a statement necklace, different vests, or other little accessories.

I: What is your go to outfit for class in this cold weather?

A: My go to outfit for class in the fall is a good pair of skinny jeans, a basic sweater, a puffer vest, a statement necklace and finished off with riding boots.

I: What is your favorite cold weather accessory?

A: My favorite cold weather accessory lies between a pair of boots or vests. They both come in a wide range of variety and can be styled differently depending on what you pair them with.

I: When you don’t feel like getting dolled up for class, what comfortable clothes do you sport?

A: When I do not feel like getting dressed up for class, I like to wear yoga pants, a sweater and Uggs. Everybody has those days.

I: Where do you draw inspiration from for your style?

A: I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and Tumblr. The boards and posts have so many different styles and outfit choices. It really helps me to pull an outfit together.

I: What is your favorite store to purchase school clothes?

A: My favorite store has to be J. Crew.
