You’re never too old for a good holiday classic. No matter your age, you still love to watch all those fun TV specials every year. Now it’s that time again when the air gets cold, the fire gets toastier and when friends and family gather around to watch their favorite holiday movies. Whether you love comedies or a good holiday romance, it’s time to dig up your old DVDs and VHSs and have a movie marathon. Here are ten movies you should be sure to catch over the holiday season!

1. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

The character we all love to hate, THE GRINCH. With a heart so small, he wants to end Christmas for all, until Cindy Lou Who makes him believe, that Christmas is a time for friends and family.

2. ELF (2003)

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” A comedic tale of a man who all his life has believed he is an elf from growing up in the North Pole is on a search to find his true father in NYC.

3. Home Alone (1990)

We all know lovable Kevin who is known for getting left alone in his house during the holidays, working his way out of every sticky situation he is thrown into. “My brother and I always loved building contraptions and stuff so this movie was the epitome of what we wanted to do. You also have to admit the burglars are pretty awesome too,” senior Pieter Maddens said.

4. The Santa Claus (1994)

Tim Allen takes on the role of Santa Claus after putting on a magic suit lying in his front lawn and takes the reins of a sleigh. He must now take charge of the North Pole and convince his family that he is The Santa Claus. “It is one of the first Christmas movies I remember watching. It showed exactly what I pictures Santa’s toy factory and the North Pole to be,” senior Maria Pelosi said.

5. Jingle All The Way (1996)

All goes haywire when two dads who procrastinated their Christmas shopping go on a race against the holiday season to find the sold-out Turbo Man action figure that both their sons wished for.

6. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

Chevy Chase stars in another installment of the National Lampoon’s Vacation film series. Preparing to have a good old-fashioned Griswold family Christmas can never go as easy as it sounds, not without of course a few hilarious disasters that happen along the way. “The main reason why I have an affinity for this movie is because my family’s tradition every year is to eat Chinese food and watch Christmas Vacation the day before Thanksgiving,” said junior Thomas Worden.

7. A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

There’s one for every holiday, a Charlie Brown special. The first TV special based off of the Peanuts comic strip curves around all the commercialization of the holiday and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.

8. A Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

When two different worlds collide, we have the Muppets in a live-action musical comedy following the original Charles Dickens’ tale.

9. A Christmas Story (1983)

There’s always that hope that Santa will bring you exactly what you want for Christmas, especially for Ralphie. All he wants is an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle!

10. The Polar Express (2004)

Hop on this magical journey to the North Pole via the Polar Express. Beautifully written songs and a story will make you always believe. “It reminds us about when we were younger, and the anticipation of waiting for Santa, the magic of Christmas during our childhood,” senior Kaitlyn Hogan said.
