Dorm decor: cozy up with a Christmas light chandelier

How can you make your room different from all the others?

Start thinking outside the box. Most college students feel like their creativity is limited when they are living under residence hall rules. As long as you aren’t hammering or gluing anything into the walls, however, you can be as creative as you want!

One great way to decorate your room is to hang some sort of handmade light fixture. With the holidays right around the corner, it’s a great way to make your room feel cozy and festive. The craft may seem crazy at first, but it is completely safe, affordable and it looks great in your room!

Another great thing about the projects is that you can put your own twist to them. With the basic tools and objects required for this project, you can choose from a great variety of lights, ribbons and cloth patterns. This will instantly bring your unique personality to your room.

Follow these easy steps to make a holiday chandelier:

Things you’ll need: Hula-Hoop, lace or ribbon, hot-glue gun, and Christmas lights.

Step One: Wrap up the hula-hoop with the ribbon or lace. When you wrap the ribbon, make sure it is tight so it won’t unravel. Hot glue the last of the ribbon so it stays put.

Step Two: Take your Christmas lights and begin to wrap them around the hula-hoop. This will vary depending on what type of Christmas lights or various lighting that you use.

Step Three: Take the extra ribbon to create a support for the hula-hoop. You can make as many attachments of ribbon to the hula-hoop as you want to be able to hang it.

Since you are in a dorm or an apartment, you can’t nail anything into the ceiling. A good way to hang this particular ceiling decoration is to buy a thick hook that sticks onto the wall and will provide the amount of weight needed.
