Long wear drugstore beauty duplicates

Amanda Ortiz Contributing Writer

Drugstore cosmetic brands seem to get a bad reputation because they aren’t on the shelves of Sephora. In reality there are a lot of drugstore lines that are long lasting, and practically duplicates to some of the high-end cosmetics.

Companies such as Revlon, Maybelline and CoverGirl have recently been launching face, lip and eye makeup products that all have one similar slogan – “24 -hour wear”. What makes this deal even better is that you could find these at your local CVS, Walgreens, or any drugstore with a cosmetic section.

While this may seem impossible, the array of these foundations and eye shadows do bring you lasting power throughout whatever your daily routine may be. Whether you’re going to a party or spending the day at school, the hope is to offer you a look that will appear fresh with no touch-ups needed.

There are two brands in particular that have been around for a while, and have recently launched new lines that are getting people talking: The Revlon Colorstay Foundation and Maybelline Color Tattoo 24-Hour Eye Shadows.

Revlon Colorstay 24 Hour Foundation is a product that does not disappoint. It’s a liquid foundation that gives you a matte finish with medium to full coverage, and you can build up the amount that you want to use. Make sure to get a good brush, or a beauty blender because it is applied best this way and will stay on for the whole day. This drugstore foundation comes in 20 different shades, making it great for a wide range of skin tones.

This foundation works best with less oily skin, but the shine and oily feeling can be fixed easily with blotting pads, or a little bit of translucent powder. Primers would be the number one solution but seeing as this foundation can last for a good amount of time, a primer is not always necessary.

All in all, the coverage truly does do as it advertises and lasts through long days and nights. Revlon also has a line of Colorstay concealer that is a steal when purchasing the foundation.

The Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadows are one of the best drugstore eye shadows on the market. They come in two different pigmented formulas, cream and loose powder. The cream shadows are a great alternative for MAC paint pots and are easy to apply.

You don’t need to worry about having a brush handy – your ring finger will work just fine when applying these creamy eye shadows.

There is a selection of neutral and vibrant colors, with matte and shimmer finishes. When you’re looking to get ready fast, cream shadows are the best go-to option, as it will take it all of two minutes tops, and they look so good you will only need one. You can always add more though if you want to switch up your look!

The consistencies of the shadows are very dry and adhere to the skin very well, which is a great sign of long wear. Some of the shades require you to build up on them, especially the bright colors to get the full effect of the look. In comparison, the pigments have a mix of shimmer and frost finishes which would be a great overlay paired with the creams.

Color Tattoo cream shadows are popular because not only are they giving you color, but they’re also providing a base to prevent creasing, so no primer is needed.

Coming into the season of spring and summer formals, girls can invest in this foundation rather than purchasing high-end items. These products provide you with long lasting quality that you can flaunt for hours.
