How to remember your New Year’s resolutions

It’s a quarter of a way into the year, and you may find yourself struggling with keeping up with the resolution you made three months ago.

People always build up their goals for the upcoming year and make efforts for the first month to maintain those aspirations, but usually the motivation is gone within the first month. Staying motivated all the time to uphold your resolutions is difficult; here are a few tips on how to keep up with your New Year resolutions.

Sit down with some of your close friends and family members and share your resolutions/goals for the year with each other.

Aside from learning more about each other and what the people in your life are looking forward to about the future, it gives you a guaranteed support system.

By having people that know what you want to accomplish, they can give you that push on the days you really need it. Another thing you can do is set a date at the end of each month where everyone involved shares their progress over the past month.

This will give everyone something to keep them going that way they have good news to share about their resolution progress at the end of every month.

Write things down on Post-It notes and stick them around your room in all different places reminding yourself of your goals. You can write things ranging from motivational quotes to keep you inspired, to literal reminders of your resolutions.

It is up to you and what you are most likely to respond positively to. Everyone is motivated in different ways, so make sure to write something down that is effective specifically to you.

A great way to help remind yourself of your resolutions is by purchasing a calendar. Having a visual to write things down on helps forces you to realize that you should be accomplishing what you put down.

After you have written down your agenda for the week, and completed an item, it is a good idea to physically cross that item off. If you didn’t complete what you had set out to do, maybe circle it so you know when you didn’t feel motivated.

If you accomplish everything you had set up for yourself, star the last date of every month and treat yourself to something that will make you happy and look forward to keep pushing forward and making strides.

These are a few ideas to help keep your resolutions and goals for yourself on track because everything has the ability to be accomplished if you put the effort in.

Remember not to get discouraged if you have a setback in your routine, it’s never too late to get back into the swing of things!
