Beauty tips to beat the heat

As the temperature rises, makeup can feel slippery and hair can become difficult to manage.

Not to worry: below are beauty products and tips to keep you flawless all summer long.

One of the major dilemmas of trying to get that summer glow, is getting your makeup to stay in place. It’s always best to use a primer when applying makeup ,but it’s a must when the temperature rises.

Try using an oil-free primer because primers that contain oil can cause clogged pores and breakouts, especially during the summer when your body begins producing more oil and sweat.

If you’re on the hunt for a primer that guarantees no-slip makeup application, try the BECCA Mineral SPF 30+ Primer (Sephora, $36).

This water-resistant primer filled with anti-oxidants, vitamins and green tea will keep skin matte and protected while your makeup is sure to stay in place all summer long.

If you can’t resist a flushed cheek look, you should opt for blush that is packaged as a cream. Cream blushes are perfect for when you want to add a touch of pink to your makeup look.

They also have the ability to stay on longer despite heat and sweat, whereas a powder-based blush can leave you with a blotchy complexion.

Try using Clinique’s Chubby Stick Cheek Balm (Clinique.com, $21) to add an effortless touch of warmth to the face. Because the blush is packaged as a stick, the color can be applied to your lips as well.

As if frizz-free hair wasn’t difficult enough to achieve throughout the year, it’s even more difficult to keep strands in place when the heat rises. To keep hair in place, you want to start your battle for frizz-free hair in the shower.

When washing hair, apply conditioner to the lower portion of your hair, avoiding the roots. After, take a wide tooth comb or paddle brush and gently brush through the hair; any other kind of brush will cause hair to break, resulting in more frizz.

Beach waves are particularly admired in the summer because of their effortless, tousled look. You don’t have to take a trip to the beach each time you want effortless waves. In fact, too much salt water can leave hair feeling dry and brittle.

Instead, use a sea salt spray like Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Spray (Ulta, $6.19). Infused with natural sea salt and sea kelp, the spray only requires a few squirts before you can gradually comb it through damp or dry hair as you tousle the strands to achieve an effortless, textured style.

Afterwards, apply an anti-frizz serum such as Pantene Smooth Serum with Argan Oil (drugstores, $7.99) to the hair, lightly combing the product through the strands with your fingers. Infused with Moroccan Argan Oil, this serum nourishes and polishes hair for lasting frizz-free shine.

Whether you’re looking to calm fussy strands or keep makeup from slipping and sliding, beat the heat with these summer products that are sure to keep you looking good.
