Styles of the 70s and 90s are making a comeback this fall. The styles that seemed to only come out during decade themed parties are now trending again. The proof? They can be seen embraced by people all throughout runway shows and street styles.

If you find yourself unable to wait until New York Fashion Week to find all of the trends, look no further.

70s Denim:

Whether or not you’re ready to face it, skinny jeans are out and wide-pant jeans are in. Long gone is the skin-tight style, and in comes loose fitting, high-waisted pants.

If that particular style of jean isn’t your cup of tea, there are still other styles you can play around with. Boyfriend and “Tomgirl” jeans have increased in popularity, known for their stylishly slouchy look that allows you to seem put together while still being comfortable.

If you’re having trouble completing this look, try any of the crop tops that have accumulated in your closet over the summer with one of these denim styles to complete your throwback look. To help transition into the colder months, try adding a fitted blazer or a cropped sweater and ankle boots.

Both denim and crop tops have been a common trend, but now the two are being paired, forming an unstoppable combination.

“Clueless” Inspired Looks:

The cult-classic film “Clueless” can be considered the epitome of 90s fashion. The styles featured in the movie are coming back with a modern day twist. Sweater vests, choker necklaces and plaid have began to emerge in designer runway shows.

Vogue notes that this is “The Clueless Effect,” naming prominent designers who took inspiration from the movies for their runway styles.

The coincidences don’t stop there as part of Thakoon’s Fall 2015 line included neon pink cropped sweater vest over a pink floral collared top.

In contrast to the preppy look are beauty trends including the emphasis of one of your facial features, while keeping everything else simple.

The beauty trends this fall also coincide with the eras because the use of minimalist makeup by Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang. Their fall 2015 collections depict transitioning of the 90s to now. The bold brow and light makeup are in this fashion. However, the use of a light rose lip that creates an illusion of a fuller lip can be used in the minimalist look too.

The use of eyeliner is another popular direction and the bolder the better. Neon colors and jet black eyeliner creates the perfect 90s grunge look for this fall. Desiners like Honor and Cushnie et Ochs are prime examples of how you can wear this look even off of the runway.

Don’t be afraid to be daring this fall, use small details like an added blazer, or a cobalt blue eyeliner to change up your back to school look.
