H&M wants you to join the #Balmainnation

H&M is giving its shoppers the opportunity to join the Balmain nation with its upcoming men’s and women’s clothing line collaboration.

The collaboration was first announced at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, similarly to last year’s Alexander Wang x HM collection that was announced at Coachella. International Fashion Models Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner helped promote some of the best H&M outfits alongside Creative Director Olivier Rousteing during the red carpet.

Rousteing wore a simple black and white tuxedo jacket with a black shirt and leather pants.

The outfit was simple in comparison to the rest of the men’s collection.

The pairing of Dunn’s silk skirt and navy and gold blouse was styled well together, but the pearl-embroidered blazer that Jenner wore paired with black tights and black tall knee high boots is arguably one of the best pieces of the collection.

One of the less flattering looks can be found in the campaign photos with Gigi Hadid. Hadid wore a silk skirt with a fuchsia puffy turtleneck blouse.

While the top might be unflattering, it went well with the rich color scheme of the photo spread.

Out of the entire collection, the fabrics and craftsmanship of the women’s dresses make them a must-have. There are two metallic, geometric dresses in the collection.

One is in a below-the-knee fuchsia squared shaped top, patterned with diamond shapes. The other is a short forest green, long sleeve v-neck with a black and gold medal belt.

There are three army-inspired, long-sleeved dresses which look impeccable and appear to be influenced by Neoclassical and Rococo French historic styles.

Despite the lack of official photos released from the collection, a few have been leaked online. One woman found and posted some of the photos of the collection and posted said photos to her Instagram account.

Included were the fuchsia dress, shoes, coats and handbags. One of the best handbags is the suede forest green handbag with black, shiny leather detail and a gold handle. The bag can be used in both day and night looks, from informal occasions to office attire. However, the showstopper pieces were the feather coats.

The dramatic pieces should be the center of attention in any outfit. Try pairing a statement coat with a simple neutral top and black skinny jeans or leggings.

Coats, jackets and blazers were popular pieces in the men’s collection. One of the best looks was a black leather jacket with a gold embroidered lion on the left panel.

However, one of the most unique pieces out of the whole men’s collection is the racing-inspired black jumpsuit, seemingly inspired by the 1970s cultural love for racecar driving – think Steve McQueen in the film, “Le Mans.”

Another impressive jacket was the oversized army-green coat with large brass buttons.

Though the looks were fierce, there were still some that disappointed.

The red and black motorcycle jacket, army-green button-down, black and army-green high top suede sneakers and distressed black leather jeans proved to be underwhelming and outdated. These looked more as if they were an afterthought in the collection instead of a cohesive part of it.

The collection will be exclusively sold online and in-stores at H&M starting Nov. 5.

The army of Balmain is coming soon to H&M; be ready to be a part of the #BalmainNation.
