New dining app gives info about menus

Chartwells introduced a new, downloadable application that will provide information on their services. The app is titled “Dine On Campus” and can be downloaded from the iPhone and Google Play app stores.

The application has many features that are helpful to Iona students. The “eat” tab asks users to choose a dining location on for more information.

Clicking on a page will allow a user to view the menu for the day as well as the dining hours for all Chartwells on-campus locations. Under the “buy” tab, a user can add more money to his or her meal plan and see which amount makes the most sense to add. This will save time for students, as they will no longer have to go to student financial services to refill their meal cards.

The “specials” tab will list the specials for the day. The “events” tab shows all the upcoming Chartwells events. For example, there is a Pop-Up Farmers Market taking place on Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. The application shows the details of the event as well as gives the option of adding it to a phone calendar. The application will shows the Chartwells staff under the “more” tab. There is the option under the “more” tab that allows students to track meal purchases by creating an account within the application.

“It is easy to use, works directly with our Dine On Campus website,” Lisa Ospitale, district marketing director for Chartwells, said.

Students will not be able to order directly from the application, as it is more of an informational application, according to Ospitale.

“I personally don’t use the app, but from what it seems like it does, I think it would be helpful,” senior Jillian Venditti said.

Other students said that they do not feel a need to download the app.

“I have not used the Chartwells app, and I don’t intend to use it,” junior Kate Adriani said.
