Valentine’s Day date ideas

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, students may be scrambling to find something creative and affordable for the day of love. While there are some people who may prefer the standard dinner and a movie, this list is for the more adventurous types. However, this isn’t just for couples—these activities can be fun to do with a group of friends as well!

1. Music Night

Still want a quiet night in but don’t want to watch a movie? Try a music night! Each person creates a playlist of their favorite 10-15 songs. Have some fun making playlists and finding new music together too. It’s a great way to learn more about each other, and you can make it as sentimental or silly as you want!

2. Pottery Painting

Try out painting something together! You’ll be able to keep the finished product to remind you of your day together. Located just down the road in Larchmont, Plaster Palace Pottery allows you to call ahead or walk in. The price is decided based on the piece you choose to paint. The Plaster Palace Pottery’s hours are available on their website.

3. Coffee Shop Crawl

Westchester has a wide range of cute coffee shops to explore. Why not do them all in one day? Bring a book to read, or simply have a calm day of conversation. Coffee shops on our list are: R Patisserie Café & Tea Boutique, e-shot cafe, Pop’s Espresso Bar, Sunshine Coffee Roasters and Auray Gourmet.

4. An Unconventional Dinner and Movie

Enjoy dinner and a movie at the same time! Located in Yonkers, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema shows features movies along with a dinner service.

5. Paint Class

Head over to Pinot’s Palette to test out your art skills! With an instructor present, you can order food and listen to music while you work. It’s a fun way to spend time together while also bringing home something to remember the night with after.

6. Old-Fashioned Movie Night

Looking for a classic date with a different aesthetic? Try the Pelham Picture House. Built in 1921, the theater has been renovated and shows a selection of movies for a brief period of time. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Whatever you decide to do for Valentine’s Day, and whether it is with a significant other or a group of friends, make sure you’re enjoying who you spend it with! Don’t get too hung up on the plans either. The best stories come from when things go a little off track!
