Halloween takes a turn for the worst for a group of friends in high school after they play the game “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board.”

The popular, spooky slumber party game “Light as a Feather, Stiff a Board” gets a wicked new imagining in Hulu’s new original series, “Light as a Feather.” The show is based upon a popular online novel and is the perfect treat for a creepy, Halloween binge.

“Light as a Feather” centers around four best friends – McKenna Brady, Olivia Richmond, Alex Portnoy and Candace Preston – who pregame at the local cemetery as a Halloween tradition. This year, they invited the new girl in town, Violet Simmons.

At the cemetery, Violet suggests they play the old-time game “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board.” For those unaware of how the game works, players kneel around a member of the group who lies on their back with their arms around their chest.

The group leader stands at the head of the body and predicts the death of the player lying down. Next, the group places two fingers under the body and chants the game’s namesake. The player is then supposed to levitate.

The next morning, all seems normal until strange things begin to occur. The weird occurrences reach new heights when one of the girls dies exactly the way Violet predicted. Fearing for the rest of their lives, the remaining girls must get to the bottom of what happened Halloween night and find out Violet’s true intentions.

“Light as a Feather” is a perfect blend of mystery, camp and horror. The show shares many characteristics with “Pretty Little Liars” and fans of the long-running Freeform mystery will feel right at home with Hulu’s latest original.

The show is very easy to binge as the season is ten episodes and each episode is only about half an hour. The short episodes are refreshing – unlike “Pretty Little Liars,” which would drag on and on, “Light as a Feather” goes by like a fun roller coaster.

The show is fast-paced and keeps your eyes glued to the screen until you finish the ride. The mystery unfolds in perfect fashion with a few shockers along the way. Since the way each girl is set to die is established in the opening game, the show gets to have fun teasing the audience throughout the season’s entirety.

Worrying about when or if each member of the group was going to die is anxiety-inducing in the best way! One member of the group is predicted to die of choking and viewers will find themselves gasping every time the show closed-up on her eating something.

“Light as a Feather” has everything one would want in a campy, teen mystery. It has a killer premise, a sexy love triangle, a strong, female friendship at its center and an amazing cliffhanger. I highly recommend “Light as a Feather” as your next binge this Halloween season.
