On Sept. 10, 2025, the Iona Men’s Soccer Team beat Stonehill College 3-0 at Mazzella Field.
Enbiya Bolur, Andrey Mora Bravo, and Anthony Recinos scored their first collegiate goals to give the Gaels the victory.
The Gaels showed dominance throughout most of the game, with their ball control and possession clearly demonstrating who the better team was. On top of that, their 10 corner kick attempts also gave the Gaels many attacking attempts, which was a season high. This truly helped because it created pressure for the Gaels to provide them with a chance to create opportunities, with a total of 18 shots on target to threaten Stonehill constantly throughout the game.
The Gaels led most of the game, especially in the First half, with a 2-0 lead. However, the Second half still worked up to plan for the Gaels, but they only scored one in the 87th minute. Schmidt Hollensted crossed the ball to Mora Bravo, who tapped it as Anthony Recinos was ready to charge, launching a banger of a goal straight into the net.
Then, on Sept. 13, 2025, the Iona Men’s Soccer Team beat Binghamton University, 1-0, on the road.
Enbiya Bolur scored the only goal for the Gaels to give them the victory. This was quite the week for Bolur, as he scored his second goal of the week. Therefore, he had a great goal against Binghamton, spinning across his defenders and striking a beautiful shot near the right post in the 72nd minute, just when most thought they were losing hope, Bolur saved the day.
However, this was not an easy victory for the Gaels, as Binghamton struck a couple of times, specifically in the 18th minute, when Binghamton struck a shot. Luckily for the Gaels, keeper Josh Bells saved it early on to keep the Gaels in it.
But the Gaels struggled, especially in the first 30 minutes, when they were restricted from getting any shots on target. As for the first half, only one shot was placed on target for the Gaels. In the second half, both teams traded blows on offense and defense, but it was Bells’ skillful play that sealed the deal, preventing the Bearcats from scoring in the 76th and 85th minutes. Both teams fought to the absolute end until the final whistle. The final foul count for the game ended on a total of 28 calls, with six of them being yellow cards.
