Letter to the Editor

The directors for Iona’s Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles write about their joint concert and why students should attend.

Come join us!

This Friday, Dec. 7, at 3pm in Murphy Auditorium, the annual Winter Concert will feature the Iona Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles. This is the largest event of the fall semester for the Music Program of the Fine and Performing Arts Department.

Selections to include music from Les Misérables, West Side Story and A Chorus Line. There will also be some symphony repertoire, Christmas music and jazz with improvised solos featuring the excellent musicians of the ensembles. There is something for everyone!

Students of all majors can join the Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles at Iona, and no formal audition is required. Of course, we have music minors, but we also have students who are majoring in Computer Science, Sociology, Speech-Language Pathology, Marketing, Mass Communications and beyond. There is also the option of a major in Arts Leadership at Iona. This is an interdisciplinary degree between Fine and Performing Arts, Mass Communication, and the School of Business. The students in this program study to be leaders in the administration of the arts in a variety of areas, including music, dance, or theatre.

Please join us to unwind and destress before finals! The concert is just under an hour. We promise you will enjoy it.
