Dear Iona Community,
The Music Program of the Fine and Performing Arts Department is excited to announce our First Annual CONDUCTING COMPETITION on Monday, November 25th, 2019 at 5pm.
I want to emphasize that this competition is open to ALL students from any background, and is not limited to Majors/Minors in Fine and Performing Arts.
Competitors will be asked to prepare a short piece. On Monday, November 25th, they will have a short period of time to work with the Iona College Instrumental Ensemble to demonstrate their ability and conduct/rehearse the ensemble.
The winning conductor will be recorded as the first winner of this new annual competition and will conduct a short piece in the final concert in May. The winning conductor should also enroll in the Iona College Instrumental Ensemble (FPA 360) in the Spring.
Contact Dr. Schultz at [email protected] for instructions on how to prepare, and to sign-up.
The Music Program is thrilled to inaugurate this new opportunity for Iona students. Please share this information with anyone you think may be interested!
Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Schultz
Director, Iona College Instrumental Ensemble
