Behind the scenes in South
January 25, 2011
For residential students living on Iona’s campus, Resident Assistants are a crucial component that allow life on campus to flow smoothly. They are responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for those who live near them, and are a good resource for students seeking answers to Iona FAQ’s. With that said, meet Sheena Wagaman.
Where are you located on Iona’s campus?
I live on the sixth floor of South Hall.
What interested you in becoming a Resident Assistant?
I wanted to have a larger leadership role on campus, and I felt that the best way to do that was to become a Resident Assistant. In becoming an RA, I’ve taken on more responsibility and have really helped bolster my own leadership skills. I think it’s great to be able to help students, while at the same time helping yourself for a better future.
What would you say is the favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is getting to know my residents and building relationships with them that will hopefully last even when they are no longer my residents.
What are some of your favorite hobbies, or free time activities?
I like watching movies and T.V. Along with this a lot of my free time is spent doing things ICTV related and though I haven’t played much since coming to college I love playing ice hockey. I also love going to the city every chance I get. To anyone out there reading this that hasn’t had the opportunity of being so close to New York–do it! New York’s one of the greatest cities in the world, and has so much to offer!
Is there anything you’d like to say to the Iona community?
Get involved! I’d also like to tell the Iona community to stay fresh and please come to ICTV meetings because we need your support! Having the support of the students is a crucial part of our success, and anything you guys could do to help would be greatly appreciated!
