Not your average athlete
March 1, 2011
For many of us, being a student athlete is not something that we think about. Between busy work schedules, class and other things, it seems impossible to find time to fit in athletics. Yet, remarkably, some students here at Iona do. In order to celebrate the achievement that is being an athlete as well as being a stellar student, we here at the Ionian took the time to sit down with one of Iona’s own, softball player Erin Kyle. Aside from being a stellar player, Kyle is also a phenomenal student, finishing her senior year here at the College as a member of Iona’s Honors Progam.
What are some of the better team highlights of your career as an athlete here at Iona?
I would have to say that my greatest highlight here as a team at Iona had to be winning the MAAC tournament and getting to experience Regionals in Texas. Nothing really compares to that experience.
What are some of your individual highlights as an athlete?
As an individual, I remember making a catch that helped preserve our win in the championship game and my first collegiate homerun against Army to tie the game that we eventually won. There really haven’t been too many lows. eing an athlete here at Iona has been a great experience.
What are some of your future plans?
My future plans really pertain to being a student, although they are athletically driven. After I graduate, I am planning on striving for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis, and eventually attaining a position where I can practice on my own or in a hospital of some kind.
