Meet the future Mrs. Timberlake

Every week, members of the Student Government Association receive an email from Mrs. Justin Timberlake. While her husband is recording a new album, Mrs. Timberlake sits as Vice President of Communications on SGA and is known to many on campus as Erika Enlund.

Amanda Kelly: What is your current leadership position at Iona, and what does that position entail?

Erika Enlund: Mainly, I sit on the executive board for the SGA serving as the Vice President for Communications. The main purpose of that job is to take an accurate recording of the three SGA meetings that occur each week. I then distribute the minutes to all of the members of the legislature and my executive board in a timely fashion. Aside from the minutes, I oversee the club mailboxes and lockers. I distribute copy codes and locker combinations to various clubs.

Kelly: Are you holding any positions for the 2011-2012 academic year?  If so, what are you pursuing?

Enlund: Next year I will be an RA for Loftus Hall, and I will also be the Editor-in-Chief of the ICANN, as well as a member of the Tara Knights and Edmund Rice Societies. I enjoy being busy, and I love all of the people I have met through each of these organizations. I came to Iona knowing I wanted to be both an RA and the Editor-in-Chief of the ICANN, so my dreams are coming true!

Kelly: What are you most looking forward to in these new positions?

Enlund: I’m really looking forward to meeting my residents and inspiring them. I love Iona so much and I know how much this school has to offer, so I hope to pass on the love. As far as being the Editor-in-Chief, I’m thrilled to be able to work on layout again. It has been awhile since I’ve been able to design several spreads, and I am really excited to tap into my creative side. I’m also really excited to work with my staff and see where we can bring this book!

Kelly: What are three things that you think the Iona community should know about Erika Enlund?

Enlund: Most members of the Iona Community are aware, but just in case someone isn’t, I will (hopefully) be the future Mrs. Timberlake. Most people know that Justin can bring the biggest smile to my face and listening to his music just calms me down. I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan and I pray every night that I will get my letter from Hogwarts, even though it’s eight years late. I love to laugh—everything in life should be fun and amusing. It’s how you get by!

Kelly: What are your ambitions for after Iona—aside from marrying Justin?

Enlund: I would really love to be a conference coordinator. I have been to about 12 leadership conferences and, to me, they never get old. I really enjoy attending and I think I would really enjoy coordinating and hosting them. If that doesn’t work out, I would love to do any job pertaining to my field of PR and I really hope to love my job.
