How very ‘Pinteresting’

A few weeks ago, a friend told me about a new web site that she found more entertaining and artistic than Tumblr. At the time, we were sitting in a hospital waiting room very late at night (a story for another day), and I was in no hurry to check out this new form of entertainment, but I was, how shall I say it…Pintrigued.
(Yes, faithful readers, this is only the beginning of a whole lot of wordplay, but not as Linsane as some examples we have already seen on the news. Those guys are just Linfuriating.)
Developed in 2009, Pinterest started making news in 2011, when Time magazine included it in their “50 Best Web Sites of 2011” article. Now on the App Store, Pinterest has, as of Jan. 2012, 11.7 million users, which, according to TechCrunch.com, makes it the fastest site to hit 10 million unique hits per month in the United States. Of course, this does not include web sites like Google or Yahoo, but these statistics are worth watching out for. The site has gained so much traffic that the only other social media beating it are Facebook and Tumblr.
