Do you live on or off campus?
On campus over at Conese with the best roommates a guy could ask for.
What got you into crew? How exactly did you get started?
My best friend Derek Krautkremer tried talking me into it at orientation. I thought it sounded stupid at first but I gave it a shot for a week. I quickly realized, however, that I loved being a part of the team and the competitive nature of the sport.
What attracted you to Iona the most?
The great physics program that we have here and the faith based community on campus.
What is the most challenging part of college crew?
That voice inside your head during a 2km piece that keeps telling you to give up when your body is breaking down. You have to remember it isn’t about you- that your pain is for the sake of your teammates who are pushing just as hard as you are. That’s the only way that you can get through it.
What is your favorite place to go to off campus?
Subway. I’m basically on the Subway-diet. I eat it at least once a day and usually twice a day.
What are your goals for this upcoming crew season?
To come back strong from surgery on my knee and to be a positive influence on my team.
What’s your favorite food?
Mahi-Mahi. Love the name, the taste and the fact that it is healthy for you.
Once you leave Iona what will you miss the most?
I don’t like thinking about the future. I try to do the best I can in the present and the rest is God’s plan.
What are your hobbies?
Hiking, rock-climbing, cycling, hockey, and anything outdoorsy.
What is your favorite TV show?
When I get the chance I love watching Seinfeld. A close second is Boy Meets World.
What is your favorite sports team and why?
I have been a huge Buffalo Bills fan ever since I was little! And in response to why? Sometimes I ask myself the same question…
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I have had 23 stitches in my face.
What is your key philosophy in life or motto?
“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”-Albert Einstein
What is your favorite sports memory?
My favorite crew memory is probably winning my first ever varsity race last fall at Dowling University. It was a great experience and brought us closer together as a team.
