A new service for the vampire in all of us

Last year the Green Team Cab Company came to New Rochelle, providing students with another option for travel to and from the train station.

While students do use cabs to go to other spots occasionally, both Green Team and Bluebird are well aware that the majority are going to the train station. Once arriving at the train station, the next stop is the city. Challenging the work of Green Team, Bluebird, and Metro-North is Vampire Life.

Created by Iona College alumni, Vampire Life, Inc. provides rides to students directly into the city. To top it off, these rides come at a very cheap cost. For only $20, students receive a round trip service to New York City.

If one were to travel into the city via Metro-North, a round trip service would be no less than $14. The cost of traveling to the city by cab is close to $100.

Not only does Vampire Life provide cheap round-service fare, but they will also pick students up directly at the dorms and take them almost anywhere in the city.

This is one service that Metro-North cannot offer. In order to go into the city, students would normally either have to walk or take a cab to the train station then take the subway once arriving at Grand Central Terminal. Vampire Life provides one easy form of transportation.

Vampire Life’s main target seems to be those students who go into the city on the weekends, advertising on their flyer service on Friday and Saturday night. These two nights are big nights to go into the city. Whether it is to celebrate a friend’s birthday, to go to a concert or to party at a club, the city is a top destination for weekend plans.

Through its service, Vampire Life is cutting out much of the hassle and cost of going into the city. It usually takes at least an hour to get to one’s destination in the city, and this travel is dependent on the public transportation.

If one misses the train or it is running late, then the plans for the night have to shift accordingly.

Also, as stated earlier, traveling into the city can be quite costly. Most college students do not have the money to frequent the city as much as they would like.

Another great aspect of Vampire Life is that it advertises itself as the designated drivers. As former Iona College students, they realize the hassle of going into the city, but they also recognize that most students going into the city on the weekend will be drinking.

By providing direct service to and from Iona on the weekend, Vampire Life is helping to ensure student safety.

It provides a trusted driver to take one directly back to college, instead of having to walk through New York City and ride Metro-North while intoxicated.

While the new service has only been available for about a month, it is sure to be a hit amongst students.

No longer will students have to worry about missing their train, especially the last one back from the city at 2 a.m. Through this direct travel, all students will be allowed the embrace their inner vampire and be safe while staying out all night.
