Bridal Party: I Do or Don’t?

Examples of dream dresses at Bridal Fashion Week.

The dream wedding is the subject of many a Pinterest board. But to make these dreams come true, is a difficult task.

If you have only attended a wedding as a guest, you probably don’t notice how stressful it can be to be a part of a bridal party.

The flower arrangements and table pieces look immaculate. Everything has its place. But it takes much more than the wave of a fairy godmother’s wand to make this dream come true.

We are reaching the age where we are being asked to be groomsmen, bridesmaids, or even the Maid of Honor in the weddings of friends and family. Along with the honor of being asked, comes responsibility.

The responsibility of cake tasting, bridal showers, and choosing seating for the guests can be overwhelming. Not only is choosing a place to hold a shower or bachelor/bachelorette party stressful, but it also can become expensive.

According to Onewed.com, there are many different alternatives to planning these expensive outings. Engaging in do-it-yourself crafts can be enjoyable and also more rewarding as opposed to paying someone to put together a bouquet of roses. Many brides-to-be have dreamt of the perfect wedding dress for as long as they can remember. Yet the perfect dress for many women sits in the windows of Vera Wang or has been worn by a major celebrity. In the fervent search for the perfect, yet affordable dress, it often falls upon the bridal party to both support the bride and assist in the search.

If you do get asked to be apart of the bridal party, you are probably wondering what you are going to have to wear. It’s a simple fact that every bride does not possess an eye for style.

For the best interest of the bride, it is your duty to don the dress with a smile. Simply remember, it could always be worse. As the wedding draws near, it is your obligation to ensure that “Bridezilla” never appears, as the slightest thing that may go wrong could easily become an explosion.

Sophomore Claire Maurer is currently assisting her older sister in the planning of her wedding, and acknowledged that it is a significant commitment, but it is fun and thrilling at the same time.

“Helping out with my sister’s wedding has definitely been fun and exciting. I am pretty lucky because she is a laid-back bride. As far as the dress, I was lucky because I liked what she picked out.” Maurer said. “It’s probably not as comfortable as if I were to pick out my own dress, but you do have to put it into consideration that it is her day.”

After months of hard work and support, the “happily ever after” is always worth it.
