SPELLMAN HALL- Students have recently started frequenting a local New Rochelle hotspot that plays all the best tunes and serves the finest cuisine one can get on the Iona meal plan.
Every day boasts a new special and the same playlist of songs to serenade students.
The best part? This hangout lies right in the heart of Iona’s campus.
“I love going to Club Spellman,” said one excited freshman student. “They always pump the best songs and I can jam out while I eat my chicken tenders and French fries.”
Another student agreed, citing Thursdays as the hottest day to frequent the dining hall. “Club Spelly is always bumping, but when it’s pasta Thursday, watch out,” he said. “The line gets crazy long and finding a table to sit at can be tricky. But it’s totally worth the wait.”
Some students are having trouble deciding what the appropriate attire is to wear to the dining hall now that it’s such a popular place to chill.
“I used to just wear my yoga pants or whatever I had worn to class earlier in the day,” said one concerned junior. “But now, I feel like I have to dress up just in case a dance party breaks out. I usually throw my heels in my backpack, just in case.”
Part of the allure of Club Spellman, for some, is the mystery of the DJ. Many students have speculated which of the employees might be behind the choices of music.
“I’m almost certain that it’s Rose,” said one confident senior. “No one guesses her because she’s usually there during lunchtime, but it’s obvious she picks the tracks beforehand.”
Whoever the mastermind behind the music is, one thing is certain- they know what it takes to get Iona students excited. Whether you’re rocking your sweatpants or your best club dress, make your way to Club Spellman soon to see where all the cool kids eat dinner.
