The music industry’s biggest night has come and gone.

The much-awaited Grammy Award show aired on CBS on the night of Feb. 8 and it was as full of surprises as expected.

The performances were, as usual, star studded, featuring music industry giants like AC/DC, Madonna, Tony Bennet, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith and Beyoncé, amongst others.

25.3 million people watched as industry veterans shared the stage with fresh faces and fire, elaborate choreographies and beautiful costumes.

But the true stars of the night were the coveted gramophone trophies and their new owners.

Newcomer Sam Smith dominated the night, snagging four Grammys. He was awarded Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and the prestigious Record of the Year.

Pharrell’s hit single “Happy” earned the title of Best Pop Solo Performance.

“Drunk in Love,” Beyoncé’s biggest hit from her self-titled album won both Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

In an unexpected twist, Beck took the gramophone for Album of the Year home for his album “Morning Phase.”

This unexpected winner turned the Internet upside down as Beyoncé fans all over the world argued that the star deserved the award.

Social media exploded with posts questioning the Academy’s decision and Kanye West rushed towards the stage.

All in all, the night was what one would expect it to be: filled with music, surprises and golden gramophones.
