Iona College renovated the Hynes Athletics Center over the summer months.

The weight room and cardio room received legitimate makeovers.

Renovations started last semester, beginning with the installation of new treadmills in the cardio center. The equipment in the weight room and aerobics studio were replaced with brand new, state-of-the-art equipment.

The renovations have been received favorably by the students.

“The new facility is very nice,” junior Danny Falcones said. “The gym was way overdue for new equipment. Now I have more workout options than before. I was doing the same workout over and over and now with the new additions I can add variety to my workout.”

The weight room now has a brand new set of dumbbells, as well as dumbbell racks.

There are also new power racks and other new machines that give students the option to do a larger variety of workouts that were not previously possible with the old equipment.

“Considering how outdated the equipment was, a new workout facility was really needed,” sophomore Tommy Reynolds said. “Iona delivered, and the new workout room is amazing, with all new equipment that should last for years.”

In addition to the upgraded equipment, the school re-painted the walls.

Along with these areas, the aerobics room got a full makeover with brand new machines as well.

The core studio, which overlooks the Mulcahy Gym is now the weight room for the student-athletes.
