Best new songs by female artists

The summer of 2017 was hot—not only in temperature, but in the music scene as well. Songs such as “Despacito (Remix),” “Attention” and “I’m the One” dominated the radio and provided perfect backgrounds to wild summer nights. Although the songs were catchy, there was one issue with the music this past summer: it was dominated by men. For most of the summer, it seemed as if the top ten songs on iTunes were always by male artists. Although female artists released comparable music, they seemed to be overshadowed.

Luckily, our favorite pop goddesses have returned to the airwaves to bless our ears with musical hits. Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have recently released albums. Taylor Swift will drop “Reputation” in November. Here are the best songs by female artists that you should add to your queue:

“Wolves” by Selena Gomez and Marshmello – Gomez might have been off the radar due to a kidney transplant, but she is back and still delivering the same awesome bops! Assisted by the popular DJ Marshmello, the “Bad Liar” singer’s sultry vocals shine on this club banger about trying to reconnect with a past lover. It is basically a sexier and slicker version of her hit with Kygo, “It Ain’t Me.”

“Perfect for You” by Rachel Platten – The “Fight Song” singer proves that she can serve sexy just as well as she provided inspiration. The song is Platten’s reponse to the guys who expect women to be perfect all the time. The bouncy chorus is insanely infectious and will have you jamming out wherever you are.

“Frozen” by Sabrina Claudio – The sultry R&B tune is slow, sensual and fantastic. It describes an intimate experience that is so heavenly it seems to freeze time. A soothing melody and impressive vocals make “Frozen” a go-to song for relaxation.

“Can You See” by Fifth Harmony – This is purely a guilty pleasure song. “Can You See” is featured on the soundtrack for “The Star,” an upcoming movie about the first Christmas. This track will keep you jamming through the holiday season. This blend of soft pop and biblical symbolism is a perfect addition to your holiday playlist.
