Will 2026 be the year the Buffalo Bills finally make the Super Bowl? That’s the big question after a loss in the AFC Championship Game against their No. 1 rival — the Chiefs. The Bills were underdogs throughout the entire season. Losing and trading away their top wide receivers was supposed to bring Buffalo to a losing season and move the Jets and Dolphins into contention for the division title. But the Bills shocked the league, exceeding their expectations and wrapping up the division early on. Josh Allen had an MVP-caliber year with over 40 touchdowns, surpassing O.J. Simpson in rushing touchdowns. Allen also became the only player to receive, rush and throw a touchdown in a single game. Allen put the team on his back, he was their MVP and should be the league one for the 2024 season. He was, hands down, the best player on field week after week. Undervalued by the media each year, he
he continuously proves everyone wrong. This was the year he didn’t need to be “Superman.” The front office finally gave him the tools to just play ball and not try to be the hero. By adding veteran wide receivers Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins, it gave the wide receiver room more depth. They produced and became two of Allen’s main targets down the stretch. Younger players also developed too, like James Cook. Cook was an outstanding player that keeps getting better as the years go on. Before the first game of the 2024 season, he only had four touchdowns in his career. Now fast forward to the end of the 2024 regular season, and he has 16, and just posted career-highs in touchdowns and rushing yards. With how good Cook has become, the Bills can focus on their running game. The protection from the offensive line has been great, and both Cook and Allen were able to benefit greatly from this, securing Pro Bowl-level seasons. Even with teams knowing
what play was coming, they were still able to find ways to get past them and into the end zone. They have more weapons than in past years, but will it finally be enough next year? I would hope so, but if it isn’t, it will be another heartbreak for the Bills Mafia and others, like these younger generations, who are longing for greatness. Time will only tell if we are cheering or weeping come next postseason.
