With it being holiday season, it tends to bring up the debate of what the best holiday is. Many argue that Thanksgiving is the best of both worlds because you get to eat amazing food without having to worry about buying presents. Others say that New Year’s Eve is the best because you get to celebrate making it to another year with those you love. However, my favorite holiday is Christmas.
Christmas has always been my number one holiday and has held a special place in my heart these past 21 years. I’ve always loved watching Christmas movies with my siblings, decorating my house, putting up a tree and so much more. I would say that Christmas being the best holiday is a popular belief, but you’d be shocked to find out how many people would disagree. One of the main reasons I’ve heard of people not liking Christmas is that it is too cold–they aren’t wrong.
It can be freezing out or even snowing which some people hate, but that is honestly one of my favorite things. I love winter and being able to get cozy on the couch with hot chocolate and a Christmas movie in the background.I think that the holiday season, and Christmas in particular, is so heartwarming because most of the time it brings out the best in people. Many are happier during the holiday season because it gives them the break they have been waiting for, families get reunited, and many just love how slow-paced winter can be.
For me, Christmas has been my favorite holiday because it is a time where all of my family gets together. My cousins and I are all close and Christmas is a holiday where we all come and celebrate together, no matter how far apart we may be the rest of the year. One of my favorite traditions we do together is a Kris Kringle and getting each other funny gifts. There have been some iconic gift exchanges, and I hope we continue this traditional alive for as long as we can. This Christmas, I am going to Ireland with my family to celebrate with my grandparents and other relatives. It is my first Christmas away from home, but I am so excited to see what new traditions are made with my cousins and me. It’ll be exciting to see what Christmas is like in another country.
