One of the best things about Iona is the wide range of restaurants made available to us students on our meal plan. Unlike other universities, we have all kinds of food options that you can think of within a mile of our main campus. One of these options being The Mirage Restaurant.
Something that sticks out to me about Mirage compared to other options on our plan, is the variety of food options on their menu. Starting with appetizers and soups, offering food like breakfast foods, lunch and dinner options, all the way to their dessert menu. There is something on the menu for everyone.
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and Mirage has a massive breakfast section. My go-to meal is “The Mirage Big Breakfast” which includes pancakes or French toast, two eggs any style, two sausages, two strips of bacon and a piece of ham. The name of this meal isn’t a lie because the portion is large and is very filling , but it is so good.
Another one of my go- to breakfast meals is the classic two eggs, any style which comes with home fries and toast, and the option to add on your choice of meat. It is a little bit smaller than the “big breakfast” so it’s a great option if you aren’t as hungry, but you will still be satisfied because the home fries are to die for.
Since I know breakfast isn’t for everyone, Mirage is still a great place for you because their lunch & dinner menu is even bigger than the breakfast one. I would recommend the “Nashville Quesadilla” which is southern fried chicken tender, with cheddar jack cheese, red onion, and chipotle aioli. It is so delicious so I would highly recommend this to anyone who goes to eat at The Mirage.
For Iona students, you should really take advantage of this restaurant while you can because it is fairly priced, the menu is thorough, and you can use your Ioan card to pay for it! If you are in a time crunch, you can order ahead for pickup or stop by the Mirage Market to quickly grab some snacks or drinks. The staff are really nice and always want to make sure you are pleased with your experience at their restaurant.
When I graduate, I will miss having the convenience of a food place like Mirage being right next door to where I live. There have been many late-night trips to the market grabbing some snacks and drinks for a night of studying with my friends. If you can, be sure to stop by this restaurant at least once before you graduate, you won’t be disappointed with your experience.
