MLB The Show 24: Yankee franchise

Bronx, N.Y.– The virtual baseball season is well under way and the 27-time world series champions New York Yankees have begun their quest to capture another title. The Bronx bombers have been off to a red-hot start through two months of the regular season. The evil empire sits atop of the American League East with a record of 55-4, 21 games ahead of the second place Baltimore Orioles.

Team rankings for the ball club include 1st in batting average, OPS, home runs, and runs scored on the offensive side of the ball. Team pitching rankings include 1st in wins, ERA and strikeouts. With all these incredible statistical numbers, it is no surprise that the Yankees have the best record in the MLB and are on pace for the greatest regular season in MLB history.

Moving from team stats to individual player stats. Juan Soto and Aaron Judge are both on pace for the historical season. Soto has played 57 games with a .403 Avg, .897 slugging percentage, and an MLB leading 1.309 OPS. He also leads the MLB in home runs (31) and RBIs (66). His outfield counterpart Aaron Judge is also putting some up eye-popping numbers at the plate. The Yankee captain has a .412 Avg, .825 Slg, and an OPS of 1.236. He has also clubbed 27 HR, 64 RBI, and leads the MLB in hits with 106, this has all been done in just 59 games.

The other notable hitters in this Yankee lineup include Giancarlo Stanton who has an OPS of 1.309, 50 RBIs, and 22 HR in 59 games. Possibly the biggest thing for Stanton this season has been staying on the field, and he has not missed a game so far this year. The first baseman Anthony Rizzo is also doing his part at the plate with an OPS of 1.145, 20 HR, and 43 RBIs. The rookie catcher Austin Wells has shined in his first big league campaign with a .383 avg and 10 HR in just 34 games played in 2024. Jon Berti, the speedy utility man leads the team with 11 stolen bases in 30 games.

The pitching staff deserves a lot of praise for their contributions during this historical start for the Yankees. The reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole is looking to go back-to-back with 1.02 ERA 117 strikeouts, and a .68 WHIP, those are all league leading statistics. The rest of the starting rotation has done their job with new Yankee Marcus Stroman pitching to a 1.70 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 11 games started. After struggling mightily in his first year as a Yankee with a 6.85 ERA in 23, Carlos Rodon has had a bounce back season. He has a 1.60 ERA, .68 WHIP, and 92 strikeouts this year.

Yankee bullpen has taken care of business in the back half of games, where they lead the MLB in bullpen ERA. The stand outs of this group include Jonathan Loaisiga, Clay Holmes, and Caleb Ferguson, who leads the staff with an incredible 0.47 ERA in 20 IP this season.

The numbers don’t lie, and it is very clear to see why the Yankees are the best team in baseball. The team looks to break the regular season wins record held by the 2001 Seatle Mariners, who finished 116-46. There is a lot of baseball to still be played, but the Bronx Bombers are well on their way to capture world series No.28 and return glory back to New York.
