College can be a bit stressful at times with a heavy workload, exams and outside responsibilities. Turning to streaming services and putting on a good movie or TV show to pass the time and relax is a go-to option for many students on campus. We all have that one comfort movie or show that we turn to when times get tough. Fellow Gaels discussed their favorite movies, shows and actors they turn to when the going gets hard.
Q: Which streaming service do you find yourself using the most?
A: “There’s so many streaming services out there but if I had to pick one, I’d go with the classic streaming service, Netflix. It has a lot of good original shows like Money Heist, House of Cards and Manifest.”
Q: Which shows do you consider the most binge watchable?
A: “Bar Rescue, Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares are the type of shows you can just get hooked into and watch for hours and hours for quality entertainment, watching those kinds of shows help me get through the semester.”
Q: What has been your favorite movie of the year?
A: “This year has had some very good and very bad, but a standout movie I saw this year was “John Wick: Chapter 4, the action and cinematography were impressive, and the plot was solid. “
Q: If you had to watch one show forever which would be?
A: “That’s a tough question, but I would have to say anything with a good reason to watch again like a crime or mystery show. When you rewatch the show, you pick up on little details you didn’t notice during your first viewing of the show and that makes the rewatch so much more enjoyable.”
Q: Best acting performance in a show or movie?
A: “An actor in a show that I thought was great was Penn Badgely in “You.” Without getting into spoiler territory for the ongoing show, his performance is a diverse one and shows his range as an actor, he was great in “Gossip Girl” and great in “You”.
Q: What show has the best cast?
A: “I really like the cast of “Cobra Kai” especially Xolo Mariduena as the show’s main character Miguel. For those who don’t know, it’s a mix of adults and kids set in the ‘Karate Kid’ universe and everyone on the show does a great job with the material they’re given. The action sequences are also solid, and the stunts preformed are awesome, especially for a Netflix show.”
Hopefully this “chat” with fellow Gaels left you interested in giving some new shows a watch or wanting to binge watch your favorite show and find some peace outside the classroom.
