Restaurant Reviews: Bar food done the right way at Beechmont Tavern
February 25, 2023
If you’re looking for a fun hangout spot with delicious food that you and your friends can enjoy, Beechmont Tavern has got you covered. Beechmont is a very short walk from campus and worth the trip regardless of how far you are from the restaurant. It is open from 11:30 a.m. to either 1 or 2 a.m. depending on the day. However, weekends are the best time to go for good food and drinks.
The establishment is well-known for its iconic wings. As a self-proclaimed chicken wing expert, I can say the wings at Beechmont are worthy of their recognition. Beechmont is a great place to get “bar-food;” they have appetizers like nachos, potato skins, mozzarella sticks and their “Beechmont famous wings” which pair well with their wide selection of drinks.
During my most recent trip to Beechmont, I was pleasantly surprised by their wings—ordered traditional wings covered in sweet chili sauce, served with ranch and celery sticks. The wings were crunchy and jam-packed with sweet, spicy flavor. They will go down as one of my favorite chicken wings ever; I strongly recommend them to anyone who likes delicious chicken wings.
I also ordered “Killian Fries,” which are French fries served with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and homemade chipotle mayonnaise. All these flavors culminate into a very well-prepared and tasty French fry dish. I recommend this dish to my fellow fry lovers out there. The selection of fries at Beechmont is extensive, offers all types of fries—from waffle fries to sweet potato fries. They also serve onion rings with chipotle mayonnaise which is a great combination of texture and flavors.
The burgers at Beechmont are well-prepared and delicious. My favorite burger is the “Gael” burger, which includes American cheese, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onions and crispy bacon, served with fries. It’s incredibly delicious. The restaurant also serves black bean burgers for those who do not eat meat.
Beechmont also serves very tasty wraps, like the buffalo chicken wrap, which is a wrap made with chicken cutlet, mild hot sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato, served with fries.
The nachos at Beechmont are not to be overlooked, served with shredded Monterey jack cheese, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, homemade guacamole, sour cream, homemade pico de gallo and ground beef, which all pair together perfectly. I’ve also had the luxury of enjoying the French Dip sandwich, which is made with a garlic bread wedge and topped with angus roast beef, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions and Au Jus sauce. I enjoyed every bite of that sandwich and recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of roast beef.
I also enjoyed the fried Oreos at Beechmont which, for those unaware, are Oreos dipped in batter and fried, topped with powdered sugar. These sweet treats are a perfect dessert to cap off any experience at Beechmont.
Beechmont is a great place for students to de-stress, this restaurant’s rating is a 4/5.
