Coaching Changes at Iona for 2022-2023 season

The Iona University sports department has seen several coaching changes since last semester. Here are all the comings and goings from the summer for the upcoming fall and spring semesters.
Jason Martinez has joined the Iona strength and conditioning staff. Before Iona, Martinez worked at East Carolina University as strength and conditioning coach. He will be working predominantly with the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Iona.
Taliek Brown was announced by Rick Pitino as the new assistant coach for the men’s basketball program. Brown comes from the University of Connecticut where he played and served as director of player development for the last three seasons.
Andrew Ferris has joined the Iona men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coaching roster after previously serving at Wake Forest. Ferris joined late in the fall of 2021.
Liam Dee has also joined the Iona men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coaching staff as a graduate assistant after competing for the Gaels for five years from 2014-2019.
James Hamilton, the men’s soccer head coach, announced Tom Bowen as a new assistant coach after he previously served at Long Island University, Seton Hall University and, most recently, Adelphi University.
Patrick Judge was added to the men’s and women’s water polo coaching roster for this academic year.
The women’s basketball coaching staff has seen a few changes over the summer. In addition to Jason Martinez being added as strength and conditioning coach, Brianna Sanders joins as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, and Alyx McKiernan joins the staff as director of operations.
Omerede Rainey has also joined the Iona women’s basketball coaching staff as a graduate manager after spending four years as a team manager for the men’s basketball team at Iona.
The softball team has added Stephanie Reinhardt as an assistant coach. Head coach Alyssa Timalu announced Reinhardt’s arrival after she previously served at Siena College. Reinhardt has been in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) since 2013 after spending four years at Manhattan College playing for the Jaspers, before coaching at Siena and now Iona.
The Iona volleyball team has completely reshuffled their coaching staff for this fall season. Athletic Director Matthew Glovaski announced Andy Mueller as the new head coach after he served most recently as an assistant coach at Long Island University.
The volleyball team completed their coaching staff with the additions of Gabriela Enriquez as assistant coach and Cassandra Patsos as a graduate assistant. Enriquez enters her 11th season of coaching most recently for Platform Volleyball Club, while also coaching NYC juniors. Patsos played for the volleyball team for four years before graduating last year.
Jesse Leon has joined the Iona sports medicine department starting this fall and is working with the Iona men’s and women’s cross country and track and field roster and club sports.
