Queer-Straight Alliance celebrates Coming Out Week

The Queer-Straight Alliance hosted a series of events in honor of Coming Out Week from Oct. 10-9. 

 

The events took place on campus and online to allow all students, virtual and in-person, a way to participate in Coming Out Week. 

 

The events were made to promote inclusivity for the LGBTQcommunity on campus and make students feel safe, according to Queer-Straight Alliance President, Haley Warner.  

 

I know many people are nervous to come to these events but it is a safe place on campus and I want to show the Iona community that this club can be a safe place for them,” Warner said. 

 

Coming Out Week consisted of four LGBTQ+ themed events: a trivia night, a history movie night, a flag diversity parade and a photo shoot and mass painting event.  

 

QSA collaborated with other organizations on campus in organizing and hosting the events.   

 

A lot went into planning these events like meeting with SGA and other staff on campus to organize everything but my E-Board definitely he
