Suffering from a bad case of post-Potter depression? Pottermore will be your cure!

The summer release of the eighth and final installment of the Harry Potter film series left many Potter fanatics feeling that this was indeed the end. But author J.K Rowling refuses to leave fans without a bit of magic in their lives. Not only did she partner with Universal Studios and open “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park this past spring, but now her newest project, Pottermore, will allow fans to delve further into the series.

Pottermore is an online companion site to the books, one in which fans can participate in an interactive reading experience. Also, users will be able to purchase digital/audio books, and for the first time, eBooks of the series.

The site itself begins with the first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and will progressively add the remaining six books. However, starting with book one, users will advance through each of the chapters, following Harry on his magical journey.

In addition, Rowling has included exclusive unpublished information about the world of Harry Potter throughout the chapters. These little snippets of information expand upon a variety of different aspects of the world of magic.  For example, Rowling features a piece on the backstory of Transfiguration Professor Minerva McGonagall as well as a description of the meaning behind the three different wand cores.

Furthermore, fans can truly experience Harry’s world as they visit Gringotts and Diagon Alley, and purchase a personalized wand from Ollivander’s. Users will also be sorted into houses and then make potions and learn spells. Successful dueling and potion-making will gain students points for their house, as the four houses compete to win the House Cup.

Pottermore is completely free and will open to the public in October. However, some fans have already seized the opportunity to be a part of the experience. For one week exclusively, Rowling offered early access to Pottermore through the “Magic Quill other.”

Pottermore gives fans more than the opportunity to continue the stories; it gives fans the ability to live in Harry’s world.

Rowling understands her loyal Potter fans, and here she presents them with the ultimate cure for post-Potter depression. Get ready to live the magic.
